Wood Cravings Arts at Kenyah Leppo Ke Village

Powerful, expressive Kenyah Leppo Ke woodcarvings and other art from - cloth, beadwork - have universal appeal. Styles and motifshad a strong artistic tradition.

Longhouse, especially the Kenyah are works of art on large scale. These ironwood structures, sheltering a whole village under one roof, are perched on a forest of stilts, two or more meters off the ground. Painted and carved decorations cover stairs, doors, outside walls and roofs of longhouses.

Above is my father photo taken at one of the Kenyah Leppo Ke hall during our recent visit to Long Loreh. Beautiful woodcarvings are all over.
